Women were abducted in several incidents at Costco, Save-A-Lot on S. Carrollton

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A string of car thefts and armed robberies along South Carrollton Avenue over the past week has made people nervous.

The most recent incident occurred on Monday, November 16 at around 1 p.m. in the Save-A-Lot parking lot on the 3000 block of S. Carrollton Avenue.

“This is heartbreaking. It’s really scary, ”says Patrice Brent.

Police said a 66-year-old woman was near her SUV when two men with guns came up to her and asked for her keys. She handed them over and the suspects set off.

Last Wednesday, November 10th, police say a woman was kidnapped in a car around 7:00 p.m. in Costco’s parking lot. The suspect was a man with a gun.

Then, on Friday, another woman, back in Costco’s parking lot, was loading groceries into her vehicle when police say two men with guns came up to her asking for her property and keys. The suspects drove away in their vehicle.

“Unfortunately, the managers of the Sav-a-Lot store came to alert me to what was going on at the grocery store and this parking lot and that maybe I should keep the doors locked and make sure I am not unsure of it It’s really like that. It’s dark in this area between 5.30 and 6 p.m. I started locking the doors, ”says an unknown worker.

The New Orleans police are investigating these incidents further. They say they need public help. If there is anything they ask you to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
