The AAP claimed on Friday that more than half of the homeless pensions generated by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) were fake and that the ruling BJP’s councilors had generated fake pensions for their own people.
Praveen Shankar Kapoor, the Delhi BJP spokesman, denied the charges, saying there is no discrepancy in the penniless pensions distributed by the South Delhi citizenship.
At a press conference, AAP spokesman Saurabh Bhardwaj alleged that a large-scale fraud in penniless pensions had been exposed by citizenship officials at their meeting of the Standing Committee.
“Senior officials from South MCD (Delhi Community Association) told the standing committee that over 50 percent penniless pensions are fake; why is this not being investigated?” said Bhardwaj.
He said the Aam Aadmi party is demanding an investigation and action against the councilors who have committed fraud.
Kapoor said, “The leaders of the Aam-Aadmi party have a habit of lying about facts. The allegations are made by politically motivated AAP leaders to stop the pension distribution in the festive months to inconvenience the beneficiaries and politically harm the BJP, “said Kapoor called.
The SDMC’s pension data is completely transparent and if investigation is needed, all pensions distributed on recommendations from the MLAs should be investigated as most of them are passed on to the families of AAP volunteers, he added.
