Department Announces Consumer Protection Events in August

The Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities (DoBS) Education and Public Relations will host and participate in numerous virtual and in-person presentations to groups of seniors, service providers, and the general public in August to promote financial performance under the Consumer Financial Protection Initiative by Governor Tom Wolf.

Unless otherwise noted, most outreach events in August will continue to be virtual, in partnership with the organizations listed, and open to the public.

Virtual events for general audiences

Midweek Money Matters – a series of webinars on a variety of financial topics – is presented on:

Fraud Bingo – This presentation – a fun and interactive game that teaches consumers how to protect themselves from investment fraud by playing BINGO – is available at:

Spending plans – a roadmap for success – This presentation – which discusses the benefits of creating a spending plan to achieve financial goals – is offered to:

The employees help to coordinate the relaunch of the toolkit “Your Money, Your Goals” of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) with an additional focus on re-entry. Senior $ fee Introducing this program, which helps professionals working with older adults become aware of the financial exploitation of older people and steps they can take to report suspected abuse to the appropriate authorities:

DoBS Investor Education and Consumer Outreach work with state and local government agencies, service providers, community and trade organizations, the General Assembly, the military community, schools and other partners to help Pennsylvania across the Commonwealth learn about the financial market.
