An Instacart worker was hailed as a hero after saving a man during a delivery

An Instacart shopper is being hailed as a hero — including by model Bella Hadid — after she tearfully recounts how she potentially saved her customer’s life during a propane spill.

In her emotional TikTok video, Jessica Higgs said she received an order from a woman ordering food for her elderly father, who was unable to shop himself.

“I always go the extra mile for this client, but for whatever reason, this time I went even further by checking the back and everything,” says the tearful woman in her car.

Higgs explains that the daughter told her to place the order on the porch, but “something said to me, ‘No, you have to help this man,'” says Higgs.

She says when the man came out, she offered to help him bring the groceries to his home – despite Instacart’s protocol.

“But I used my judgment and brought the groceries in and put them where he wanted them and you weren’t supposed to do it, but I did,” Higgs continues.

“You’re just supposed to take a picture and leave. And I couldn’t just leave,” she says. “I had to text the lady because I was very worried about her father that he just looked sick and I didn’t know what to do. So I messaged her and said, ‘When I say the order is complete, I can’t message you and I want to let you know.'”

She said she told the woman she saw a propane tank at her father’s house.

“I was maybe five feet in there and I got dizzy. And I said there must be a leak,” she recalls.

According to Higgs, the daughter replied that she would ask her son to check on her father – and later changed her tip for the order from $14 to $100.

What made Higgs more emotional, however, was the message the daughter wrote.

The daughter left an enthusiastic review after Higgs' visit.

“Thank you so much when my son checked on my dad it was definitely leaking you definitely saved my dad’s life and my younger son!!!” the woman wrote.

The video has received more than 3 million views as of Friday morning.

Among the roughly 155,000 comments, one was from Hadid.

“You’re not ‘just an Insta Cart worker’!!!!!! UR helps people every day in ways you probably don’t even know. Thanks for being U!!!!!!!” wrote the 25-year-old supermodel.

In a statement, Instacart said it was grateful for buyers like Higgs. It was unclear where the woman lived.

“We are constantly inspired by the incredible people who choose to be Instacart Shoppers and intentionally make a positive impact in the lives of others. This story touched our hearts and we are grateful for buyers like Jessica,” Instacart said, WTSP reported.
